Today I will be following up on PMV Ambassador: Julliènne Doppenberg
In the last Pimp My Village Story about Juliènne (link here) we introduced her NGO called Tosangana. Today we want to share more about the primary school that she helped to put up.
Just to refresh your memory Juliènne founded Tosangana in 2006. The projects are situated in Kinshasa, Congo. Together with her local partner she put up many projects that mostly focus on education, empowering women and agriculture.
The Tosangana foundation and local partner have built a Multifunctional Women's Center in 2009. The center also contains a primary school.
Juliènne: “ In 2010, we put up the primary school that has been located in the Womens Center. From 2010 to 2016 it was only a nursery. In 2016 we expanded and today we have 8 classrooms in which the nursery and primary school run in the morning and from 12:30 the secondary school runs. Last year we presented the first group for state exam.”
Juliènne: We have been able to expand because of donations and doing fundraising. We try to generate a basic monthly fee by selling school supplies and having a school restaurant. With that money we can pay the teachers and other costs.
Juliènne: “ This month I will stay in Kinshasa. Next week we will start expanding our school again but now with a chemistry laboratory and a nursery. I am excited! “
We will follow up on Juliènne and the projects of Tosangana again in a few weeks.
