This week we follow up on Connecting Diaspora – IOM The Netherlands Ambassador Abubakarr Bangura. We have been featuring Abubakarr Bangura often because of his projects containing the nice bags from Sierra Leone and the SEP tailor workshop. SEP stands for Strategic Entrepreneurship Program. Abubakarr does more projects in cooperation with SEP Investment Services. This social enterprise creates local employment and fosters an entrepreneurial mind-set among youths in the country.
In Abubakarr´s last update we talked about the rope pumps he and his local organization have been installing in Sierra Leone. We will follow up on that again soon. This time we asked Abubakarr how things are with the Tailoring Workshop and the opening of the new HUB:
Abubakarr: “We are preparing for the opening of the HUB sewing studio in May. We created the registration form so that people can inscribe. Next to this we prepared the sewing machines and computers so that the participants(students) can use them. We appointed the trainers and now we are working on promotion and planning. We will talk to the town chief and other stakeholders to discuss the school fees of participants. We do not offer free vocational education. Participants must contribute 100 euros to their education. This pilot training is for 1 year. We are very excited that we can finally open up the training HUB”
