Pimp My Village Stories- Juliènne 1- Tosangana

On February 10, 2006 Juliènne doppenberg- difukidi founded Tosangana in Congo in honor of her parents. They had raised a total of 17 children, although 12 children were not their own. Her parents placed great value on education; everyone in their household had to graduate.

Juliènne: “After the death of my mother, the 12 children adopted by my parents helped me during the grieving process. I wanted to continue helping them, but taking them into my home was not an option. That´s why I decided to start an organization to do educational projects and also support the children.”

As a young woman, Juliènne wrote her thesis on women and labor. Juliènne's thesis included the position of women in society and in professional life. The conflict situation in Congo has strengthened the desire and need for women's emancipation and the empowerment of women and girls, this is another goal that Tosangana wants to contribute to in Congo.

Juliènne: “ I am pleased that we have been able to do successful projects, like training teachers to better the quality of education in a way that suits them and the community. Next to this we also focus on empowering women and we did a campaign to stop violence against women”

In the next Pimp My Village Story about Juliènne we will tell you more about the projects that Tosangana is doing at this moment.
