Did you know there is a very critical drought in Puntland, Somalia?

Our local changemakers Ambassador Abdisalam Ali and his local partner Mohamed at Stichting Kaalo Nederland are helping out by distributing water. But this is not enough!

Abdisalam: “Last week we got a letter from the local Government in Puntland (see picture of letter). There hasn´t been any rain in months and there is a big drought! People and animals are dying and the rain season is almost over and no rain is coming.”

Abdisalam: “We immediately responded bij making pictures and video´s to show what is happening, then gathering money from our donors in The Netherlands. With this we could get 13 water tanks and bring them with trucks. But this is not enough. We will have to start a new and bigger campaign in The Netherlands to get more help."

Abdisalam: “Unfortunately due to Climate Change, the situation in Puntland is getting worse. If we can get enough water for the next months we will look at digging bowl holes and look at long term solutions”.
